My Favorite 4 Thai Food

Today I’ll share my favorite 4 Thai foods, ingredients, and story. Let’s explore Thai food together.

  • 1. Tom Yum Kung

It is the most common dish in Thailand. I didn’t like it at first, but later it became one of my favorite dishes. Tom yum or tom yam is a type of hot and sour Thai soup, usually cooked with shrimp. Tom yum has its origin in Thailand. The words “tom yam” are derived from two Thai words. Tom refers to the boiling process, while yam means ‘mixed’.

Main ingredients: Broth, lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, galangal, lime juice, fish sauce, chili peppers, prepared soup, garlic, mushrooms, river shrimp, octopus, and coconut milk.

The tom yum menu includes not only shrimp but other meats as well. Fish, pork, chicken. There are also menu options without coconut milk.

In my opinion, this dish is a menu that everyone should try at least once.

  • 2. Pad Thai

Pad Thai is the national dish of Thailand. Undoubtedly one of the favorite dishes of tourists. Even the name is easy to remember. If you don’t know the name of Thai food, just say Aauu Pad Thai. kk (Aauu means “order” Pad Thai)

Interestingly, in 1930, in order to strengthen the national ideal, the Thai prime minister invented the dish and called it Pad Thai. The taste is sour, spicy, and slightly sweet.

Ingredients: strip noodles, tofu, seafood or shrimp, eggs, brown sugar, fish sauce, oyster sauce, tamarind, radish, garlic, and peanuts. Instead of seafood, you can substitute chicken, pork, or beef. But for me, Pad Thai with shrimp is more delicious.

  • 3. Guay Teow (Noodle soup)

“Guay Teow” or Noodle soup is one of the most popular dishes in Thailand. You can easily find this food anywhere. This dish is available in almost every street food court.

When you tell the chef what kind of meat and noodles you want to choose, the chef will cook the food right in front of you. For meat, beef, chicken, pork, seafood, meatballs, and wontons. There are 5 types of noodles in general. (wide rice noodles, flat narrow rice noodles, small round noodles, small round egg noodles, rolled rice noodles). But some small food shops specialize in only 1 or 2 types of meat (pork, chicken, etc.). You can choose your own noodles.

The ingredients include prepared soup, cloves of garlic, white pepper, white vinegar, sugar, meat seasoning (depending on what kind of meat you choose), fried garlic powder, red pepper, red and green hot peppers, cilantro, etc.

In terms of taste, it’s quite delicious. The spices are not too spicy, so Mongolian people can easily eat them.

A bit like Vietnamese Po soup. One of the cheapest and most delicious Thai food.

  • 4. Pad Gaphrao Moo Sab

Also, One of the most popular dishes in Thailand. “Pad” is fried, “Gaprao” is basil leaves (holy basil), and “Moo Sab” means minced pork. The taste is spicy and the pork is slightly salty. But it’s good to eat rice mixed with eggs.

It’s easy to eat. One of my favorite dishes. In fact, some food shops do not have eggs on their menu. Fried eggs can be added separately. The ingredients are of course rice, minced pork, basil leaves, hot pepper, soy sauce, fish sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, cloves of garlic, and fried eggs.

With only these materials, you can make Thai food at home. 😉

Hope you like my today’s post. Let me know if you have any questions or comments.

Stay safe and take care!
